Professional Background:

Dr. Mustafa Okan YAĞCI’s main areas of expertise include civil procedure and enforcement-bankruptcy law, competition law, maritime law, corporate and commercial law, international trade law, and arbitration.

​

Academically, during his LL.M. studies, Dr. YAĞCI worked as a research assistant to Professor William F. Fox, focusing on international commercial transactions, alternative dispute resolution, and arbitration. From 2013 to 2016, he served as a research assistant at Yeditepe University Faculty of Law, where he assisted and lectured alongside former Dean Prof. Dr. Haluk Kabaalioğlu, Jean Monnet Professor of EU Law, and Prof. Dr. Vilenas Vadapalas, former Judge at the General Court of the Court of Justice of the European Union. He also worked as Congress Secretary/President’s Assistant at the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA) and coordinated six other international academic conferences.

Between 2018 and 2025, Dr. YAĞCI taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the law faculties of Pîrî Reis University, Hasan Kalyoncu University, Istanbul Okan University, Cyprus Science University, and Izmir University of Economics.

Since 2021, he has served as Assistant Editor and English Language Editor of the Journal of Civil Procedure, Enforcement and Insolvency Law (MIHDER).

As a practitioner, Dr. YAĞCI worked at an internationally oriented law firm between 2010 and 2012, and in 2016-2017, he completed a six-month internship at the Basque Competition Authority (AVC - Autoridad Vasca de la Competencia) in Spain. Between 2019 and 2023, he was affiliated with the law office of Prof. Dr. Ali Cem Budak, where he took part in legal consultancy services and engaged in joint academic work with Prof. Budak.

As of 2023, Dr. YAĞCI primarily practices in a consultancy capacity. He serves as a legal consultant in litigation and arbitration matters, especially in maritime law, insurance law, and enforcement & insolvency law, for various law firms based in Istanbul and Izmir.
